About

A little bit about myself.

Hi. I'm Miguel Medeiros

I'm a software developer, systems analyst, and entrepreneur based in Ottawa, Canada and I've been curious about technology for as long as I can remember. I started working with computers when I was eight years old, volunteering with a local non-profit that refurbished computers and taught classes to at-risk youth, seniors, and members of the community. Even then, what interested me the most wasn't just the technology itself - it was what you could do with it and what you could do for others.

I'm largely self-taught, and I've always learned best by building, fixing, experimenting and figuring things out for myself. I'm naturally curious, creative, analytical, and probably a little bit obsessive about the tiny details. I thoroughly enjoy taking complicated problems, breaking them down into smaller pieces, understanding how everything fits together, and finding a solution that actually makes sense.

Over the years that curiosity has led me into software development, hardware engineering, IT infrastructure, web development, and systems design. My portfolio currently includes Strux OS, Lawnlite, and Elyptix, but I've also developed websites for local Ottawa businesses, and founded Medeiros IT as a way to bring all of those disciplines together.

Medeiros IT was build around a simple idea: sometimes the right solution doesn't already exist. A lot of technology companies start by looking for an existing product that more or less fits a customer's problem. I wanted the flexibility to go further than that - to understand the problem first, and then find, adapt, or build the solution that actually fits.

That same philosophy shapes how I work with people. I try to take on a client's problems as if they were my own, explain things without hiding behind jargon, and make sure people actually understand and feel comfortable with the technology they depend on. I believe good technology should make life easier, not create another layer of complexity.

At the end of the day, that's what I enjoy most about technology; the ability to work with people, to help others, to solve real problems, and to build things that are genuinely useful.
